Our Story

From Beirut to Mission Viejo

From Beirut to Mission Viejo

Our story begins in Lebanon, where I was born and raised as the youngest of four boys in a family of seven children. Back then, there was no internet, no phones, no distractions — just family, food, and stories around the kitchen table. Cooking wasn’t just a chore in our house — it was a way of life. Everyone helped. One of us peeled potatoes, another chopped onions, and the kitchen was filled with laughter, conversation, and the unmistakable aroma of something delicious in the making.
Bringing People Together Through Food

Bringing People Together Through Food

From an early age, food taught us something important: to care about how things are made, how they taste, and how they bring people together. Lebanese cuisine is rooted in this spirit — a deep love for fresh ingredients, bold spices, and meals meant to be shared. It’s no surprise that some of the most beloved Middle Eastern dishes — like Shawarma, Falafel, Hummus, and Tabouli — all have deep roots in Lebanon. These aren’t just recipes; they’re pieces of history passed down through generations.
Family Owned & Operated

Family Owned & Operated

Today, that same spirit lives on at Shish Taouk in Mission Viejo, California. We’re a small, family-run restaurant with a big heart. My wife and I, along with our two boys, pour everything we have into this place — and you’ll taste it in every bite. We prepare everything in-house, every morning, using only the freshest ingredients and 100% halal meats. Our open kitchen reflects our philosophy: be transparent, be real, and serve food we’d proudly put on our own family table.
Welcome to Our Family

Welcome to Our Family

From our mouth-watering Chicken Pita to the perfectly spiced Beef & Lamb Shawarma, from sizzling kebabs to our rich selection of vegetarian dishes — everything we make is rooted in tradition, family, and love. The secret? A special blend of Lebanese spices passed down from generation to generation — full of warmth, depth, and soul. Whether you're here for a quick lunch or a full family feast, we hope you feel the same warmth we grew up with around the table.
